In summer, the Dachstein Krippenstein in the UNESCO World Heritage region Hallstatt Dachstein / Salzkammergut offers everything your heart desires and promises days full of nature experiences and lasting memories.
The number 1 excursion destination in the Salzkammergut enchants the whole family: cave world (Giant Ice Cave, Mammut & Koppenbrüller Cave), viewing platforms (5fingers, World Heritage spiral), attractions such as the Dachstein shark and the wonderful hiking opportunities on the Dachstein plateau.
„Die Draufgänger “rocked the Schönbergalm at the open-air concert
On 30 August 2025, Die Draufgänger rocked the Schönbergalm with hits such as Gianna, Cordula Grün and Marie, followed by an energetic performance at Dachstein Krippenstein.
A wonderful high plateau and lots of variety awaits you at 2,100 m in the heart of the Salzkammergut!
Here at Dachstein Krippenstein you'll find everything a hiker, climber, or leisure tourist could want. The cable cars transport you up to the mountain, enabling you to conquer the mountain with no effort at all.
First stop is the Schönbergalm (middle station/ section 1), the small nature paradise to relax and explore, and the starting point for the visit of the caves (Giant Ice- & Mammut cave).
Further on we ride up to the Krippenstein (mountain station / section 2) to the viewing platform 5fingers, the World Heritage spiral, the World Heritage view and to the Dachstein shark, the attraction at Heilbronner circular trail.
On the last section 3 of the Dachstein Krippenstein cable cars, you will float over vast alpine pastures to the Gjaid Alm station, where sunny alpine meadows await you and the perfect starting point for further hikes on the Dachstein plateau, such as to the Wiesberghaus, Simonyhütte, Gjaid Alm and Dachstein Glacier.
Highlight for the little ones and the young at heart animal mountain dwellers like the jackdaws, who also like to snack with you while you eat ;) or the sheep on the Krippenstein, which graze along the edge of the trails.
